Continuing to Serve Despite COVID-19

To All Our Supporters:

The coronavirus has significantly impacted people throughout the world. Step Up Ventura hopes this letter finds you well and weathering this storm in the safety of your home. With grave concern for our Step Up Ventura families, our on-site services have temporarily stopped. We are acutely aware of the hardships our families are facing as parents care for their children, unable to work.

Knowing our families are dealing with increased stress, our services now address their present situations. We call parents weekly to assess how they are doing and what they need. These calls guide us in what we do next for our families.

In the last three weeks, we have delivered food and toiletries, conducted virtual parent-child sessions and suggested activities parents can do with their children. Next week families will get books to keep language skills developing and enhance parent-child time. Most importantly, we continue to be a support for each family’s well being and available to listen to their concerns.

We thank you. We know you care about these vulnerable children. Step Up Ventura deeply appreciates what you have done to help young homeless children thrive academically, emotionally and socially. Your support makes it possible for us to continue to serve them with dedication and care through these difficult times.

Sincerely, Mary O. Kerrigan Program Director
